SWAT Test Information
SWAT follows the same format and structure as the NSW OC and Selective School Placement Tests. The exam simulates real test conditions and is delivered in a full-length, computer-based format.
Year 3 & 4 – OC Format
SWAT Mock Exam for Year 3 and 4 students mirrors the current OC Placement Test and includes the following sections:
- Reading – 30 minutes, 25 answers across 13 questions
- Mathematical Reasoning – 40 minutes, 35 questions
- Thinking Skills – 30 minutes, 30 questions
🟨 Note: No marks are deducted for incorrect answers.
Year 5 – Selective Format
Year 5 students will sit a SWAT Mock Exam based on the current Selective High School Placement Test format, consisting of:
- Writing Test – 30 minutes (stimulus-based)
- Reading – 40 minutes, 30 answers across 16 questions
- Mathematical Reasoning – 40 minutes, 35 questions
- Thinking Skills – 40 minutes, 40 questions
🟨 Note: No marks are deducted for incorrect answers.
Writing Test Assessment Criteria:
Students are provided with a stimulus and assessed on:
- Relevance to the topic
- Quality of thinking
- Clear organisation of ideas
- Originality and creativity
- Language use
- Grammar, punctuation, and spelling
🛑 Important: No marks will be awarded for writing that closely resembles published works.
